How to get to Melrose
The North Star Hotel is in the township of Melrose in the Southern Flinders Ranges.
It is 276km north of Adelaide on sealed road all the way. It usually takes 3 hours in a regular vehicle.

There are three main routes to travel to Melrose.
ROUTE 1: GREEN: VIA PORT WAKEFIELD ROAD AND CRYSTAL BROOK
Take Main North Road all the way to Port Wakefield, continue north through to Lochiel, past Snowtown and Redhill. Approx 20km north of Redhill, take the turn off to Crystal Brook. Travel through the township of Crystal Brook, then take turn off to Gladstone, before you reach Gladstone take the northern turn off to Laura. Travel through Laura, Wirrabarra, Murraytown and in to Melrose at the foot of Mount Remarkable.
ROUTE 2: ORANGE: A MORE SCENIC ROUTE VIA MALLALLA
Take Main North Road to the Mallala turn off. Pass through Mallala, Balaklava, Blyth, Gladstone, Laura, Wirrabarra an on to lovely Melrose.
ROUTE 3: RED: SCENIC VINES ROUTE VIA CLARE VALLEY
Travel thorugh Gawler, Tarlee, Auburn and in to the Clare Valley and the township of Clare. If you have plenty of time visit some of our friends in the Clare Valley – try Cygnets Café in Mintaro or Skillogalee Winery for lunch or if in the mood for wine tasting try Eldredges, Pauletts, Pikes, Knappsteins or Mitchells Wines. Continue north through Clare and take the turn off to Gladstone, then Laura, Wirrabarra, Murraytown and on to Melrose. (Will take a little longer than 3 hours).
